Smeagol
Smeagol is a gelding from 2006 and a cross between a Gotland pony and an Irish Cob. He is around 142-144 cm high. As a foal he had a grey fur but from 2 years old he turned white with grey spots and speckles. We have bought him as a buddy for Blue which was a stallion and could no longer be together with the mares. Smeagol and Blue are big buddies and play, run and frolic a lot together in the meadows. Of course, Sunny also liked to join.
Smeagol is a little bandit, he really knows what he wants, but there is no harm in him and he’s not afraid of anything! We regularly get a phone call from one of the neighbours who tells us that Smeagol is running around. He just goes somewhere between the electric lines to sneak out looking for greener grass. He does not really run away so who knows, maybe he should walk around loose on the campsite and be our ‘house pony.’ Smeagol is good trained, also on a side pull, bitless and he is very sweet. He really likes to go for a ride outside, doesn’t find anything scary, everything is nice and interesting (to play with)! He is low in rank in the herd but he thinks it’s so much fun to make all the horses in the herd crazy and let them race trough the fields.. and of course he is gonna stand there and look at the running horses…
All the kids are so in love with him and they always choose to ride him. He’s even joking with them sometimes. While you’re riding him he can just decide to go off road straight through the bushes (read narrow trees) (so the branches are itching under his belly) or by a steep road downhill he just goes ‘ off road ‘ while the rider thinks the normal road is already exciting enough….
That is Smeagol, you keep laughing with him!
